Saving Piper the shire horse
The owners of a young shire horse in Cornwall have thanked the emergency services and local supporters after he had to be rescued from a cattle grid. Four-year-old Piper suffered serious injuries after he got three of his legs trapped in the metal grid, it took four hour to cut him free. As well as injuries to his legs, face and body, Piper has a shattered front tooth that requires specialist attention. His owner Sara Phillips told Julie Skentelbery how she had started an online appeal to cover the spiralling bills.
