Northumberland Man Had a Kidney Transplant 30 Years Ago That Changed His Life

Thirty years ago the NHS organ donor register was created.

Today and more than fourteen and a half thousand lives in the North East and Yorkshire have been saved because of it.

But more than a thousand patients in our region are still waiting for a transplant.

One of the first to receive a transplant thanks to the register is 66 year old Graeme Appleby from Widdrington in Northumberland

He received a kidney transplant 30 years ago and spoke to Matt Bailey at Breakfast.
