Victor Osimhen: ‘He’s having the time of his life’ ahead of Europa League debut
Nigeria forward Victor Osimhen has never played in European competition for Turkish giants Galatasaray before.
One of the biggest names in the 2024 Europa League will be the African footballer of the year Victor Osimhen, who'll be making his European debut for Galatasaray after receiving a hero’s welcome to the club earlier this month.
The Nigeria forward joined the Turkish giants on a season-long loan from Napoli, after falling out of favour at the club he joined back in 2020 in a deal reportedly worth more than $96m (81.3m euros), making him the most expensive African player of all time.
Having chopped and changed coach through their disappointing campaign in the 2023/24 season, Napoli appointed Antonio Conte in June, and the former Juventus, Inter Milan and Chelsea boss froze out the forward, excluding him from Napoli’s squad list and striping him of his number nine jersey.
And Nigerian football expert Fisayo Dairo told Sport Today’s John Bennett how the forward has been able to settle in so comfortably in Istanbul.
