The Caitlin Clark effect: Iceland’s basketball watch parties
Caitlin Clark’s impact has extended way beyond the basketball court in her WNBA rookie season - in fact it’s gone global.
A watch party was held in Iceland as around 180 people crowded around a big screen in ReykjavÃk to watch Caitlin Clark’s Indiana Fever play – and, even though Indiana are out of the WNBA play-offs, there are more planned too.
Sportshour’s Caroline Barker speaks to former Icelandic basketballer Helena Sverrisdóttir who hosted the watch party to find out how the bug for women’s basketball has been caught in Iceland.
