During the Leicester 10k race in March 2024, runners were shocked to see a man collapsed on the ground.

64-year-old keen runner Peter was suffering a heart attack, and after his heart stopped twice he was saved thanks to the efforts of volunteers at the scene.

Amongst those who saved his life was Dr Matt Woods, a volunteer for the East Midlands Immediate Care Scheme. EMICS respond to serious 999 calls and the group has now treated 50,000 patients since launching 40 years ago.

To mark the charities anniversary, Matt and Peter met for the first time since that day and spoke to Ady Dayman.
