Rafael Nadal鈥檚 former Davis Cup team-mate Tommy Robredo says the Spaniard has been 鈥渁n example for everyone鈥� throughout his glittering career.

38-year-old Nadal has announced he will retire from tennis in November after representing his country at the Davis Cup Finals in Malaga.

Nadal has won 22 Grand Slams, second behind Novak Djokovic in the all-time list of men鈥檚 Major winners, including a record 14 French Open titles.

Robredo told Sport Today鈥檚 Ade Adedoyin, 鈥淚t is not easy to win 22 Grand Slam titles on all surfaces and only losing four times at Roland Garros. He was always an example to everyone.

鈥淗e helped the tennis world and Spain and we have to be very happy about that.鈥�
