'Nuclear waste site would be disaster for tourism'

Campaigners opposed to plans for an underground nuclear waste disposal facility at Theddlethorpe say it would put off 'a great majority' of tourists from visiting the Lincolnshire coast.
Guardians of the East Coast (GOTEC) carried out a survey of more than 1,000 visitors to resorts including Mablethorpe and Skegness.
The former gas terminal site is one of three under consideration and the government agency behind the proposal says it would boost the local economy, but GOTEC chairman Mike Crookes claims that would be outweighed by the negative impact on tourism.
