Erik ten Hag: ‘I don’t think any fan in the Netherlands thought he should be given more time’
Dutch football journalist Marcel van der Kraan explains how Erik ten Hag’s sacking as Manchester United boss has gone down in the Netherlands.
“Ten Hag would have been better off if he’d been working with a young team and young players to develop, rather than such a huge club with huge expectations,“ van der Kraan told Sport Today’s Maz Farookhi.
Ten Hag's final game was a 2-1 defeat at West Ham that left the club 14th in the Premier League with just three wins from their opening nine matches.
Ruud van Nistelrooy, who joined the club as Ten Hag's assistant, has been named as interim manager.
The club said Van Nistelrooy would be in charge "while a permanent head coach is recruited".
