Martin Lewis reacts to tuition fees increase

Martin Lewis explains how the tuition fees increase will affect university graduates.

UK students will pay more for university in England next year, as undergraduate tuition fees rise to 拢9,535 a year.

It is an increase of 拢285 on the fees, which have been frozen at a maximum of 拢9,250 since 2017.

Speaking to 5 Live鈥檚 Adrian Chiles, Martin said: 鈥淚ncreasing tuition fees will not change what graduates repay once they leave university in a year. What you repay is based solely on what you earn.鈥

鈥淭he people who will pay more because the tuition fees have gone up, are mid-high to higher earning graduates. Low to middle earning graduates will not repay anymore because tuition fees have gone up.鈥
