125 years of Worcestershire's biggest music export

The Nimrod Variations, written by Sir Edward Elgar, was first performed in 1899 - with the version we know today getting its debut at his home city in Worcester, as part of the Three Choirs Festival.

Earlier versions of the piece were first played earlier that same year in London, before the Worcestershire composing legend adapted the score.

Over a century on, Assistant Director of Music at Worcester Cathedral, Nicholas Freestone, reflects on why it's so revered and a treat to play, with our reporter Alistair Binney.
