The youngest chess player to achieve an official international rating

Indian chess prodigy Anish Sarkar from India has been given a rating of 1555 by the International Chess Federation (FIDE).

He played his first ever chess tournament aged three and sometimes, the toddler from Kolkata, spends seven to eight hours a day training at a local chess academy.

At a recent tournament, Anish met his idol, Norwegian chess player Magnus Carlsen, who was impressed by the toddler's abilities.

Anish's mother, Reshma Sarkar, told 大象传媒 Newsday's Charlene Rodrigues what sparked Anish's interest in the game at such a young age.
