What your rights are if you fall on an uneven pavement or pathway

A recent survey found that around 30% of people over the age of 65 reduce the amount of time they spent going out for a walk because they are concerned about falling on uneven streets and pavements. And for the thousands of people who do sustain an injury like this every year, the lasting effects can be live long after physical scars have healed.

Presenter Mavis Ackerley meets two women who were both caught out by dodgy pathways and, with the help of lawyer Gary Rycroft, finds out your rights if this happens to you.

In response to the film, Cheshire East Council said that it was sorry to hear about Tracey and Joan鈥檚 injuries. It said that it takes maintenance of highways and footpaths seriously, but no action had been found to have been required on these footpaths based on routine inspections. It encourages residents to report any safety concerns relating to footpaths to the council.
