A Leicester community centre is celebrating a bright start to the new year after being handed a grant of half a million pounds.

The Highfields Centre on Melbourne Road in the city has provided a place for local people to meet for fifty years.

Centre managers say the grant will go towards improving the sustainability of the building with solar panels amongst the first on the shopping list.

Priya Thamotheram and Vandna Gohil explained to 大象传媒 Leicester's Chance Litchfield why it's such an exciting time for the centre.
