Coldplay, one of the world’s most iconic bands, launches Radio 2’s Piano Room Month 2025.

Coldplay, one of the world’s most iconic bands, take centre stage for the launch of Radio 2’s Piano Room Month 2025 at the ´óÏó´«Ã½â€™s Maida Vale studios, with very special stripped back versions of Viva La Vida, All My Love and a cover of The Proclaimers’ Sunshine On Leith.

During the performance, Chris, Jonny, Guy and Will are also joined by Laura Mvula for some intimate arrangements of their songs, alongside a string quartet.

Jo Whiley steps into the Piano Room to reminisce with the band about their fond memories of the songs; of their history with the ´óÏó´«Ã½; and to look back at the past 25 years of their musical life together. Jo plays nostalgic blast from the past of an early recording of a radio chat together, with Chris using his first ever mobile phone, whilst eating cake and writing thank you letters! They reflect on the honesty of their new album ‘Moon Music’ which features the track ‘All My Love’, and discuss whether the track may be the last ever ‘proper’ Coldplay single. Finally, on approaching the cover version of ‘Sunshine on Leith’ originally by The Proclaimers, Chris expresses his gratitude to the Scottish brothers for their whole other world of music, and its quality and soul.

You can also find a special extended episode of this show on ´óÏó´«Ã½ iPlayer, featuring 3 additional songs and a bonus interview with Jo.
