The truth behind your 拢10 dress

The 大象传媒 goes inside the Chinese factories fuelling Shein's success.

In less than a decade, Shein has grown from a little-known online brand to one of the biggest fast fashion retailers in the world. It produces a lot of clothes very quickly, and sells them at very cheap prices. For this episode of 5 Minutes On, the 大象传媒's China correspondent, Laura Bicker, has spent the day speaking to workers in the so-called Shein village in the southern Chinese city of Guangzhou. She found people working more than 75 hours a week in contravention of the country's labour laws. Shein has told the 大象传媒 it is committed to ensuring the fair and dignified treatment of all workers in its supply chain.
