Kepax Bridge footpaths ‘not up to scratch’

It was built at a cost of £16million, but locals say they are 'dismayed' at 'impassable' pathways, with The Severn Way left in a muddy quagmire, and trails off at a 45-degree angle.

One of the aims of Worcester's Kepax Bridge was to encourage more people to navigate the city on foot or on two wheels.

Carly Barnes, from the group 'Run The Shire', takes our reporter Tom Edwards to see the state of the paths.

At time of publishing, one of the issues with the linking footpaths is that a part of the Severn Way, from Worcester to Hallow, is currently closed due to a river bank collapse, from flooding that occurred in November 2023.

In a statement, Worcestershire County Council said it 'is not feasible' to upgrade the path at this stage, due to the 'substantial cost' of the work, but would like to look at options for the future in a further phase of support.
