Hamlet residents 'say no' to power plant plans
Villagers at Hindlip, near Worcester, fear the generator will 'ruin' their quality of life, with increased traffic, noise, and air pollution.
Several residents are protesting against plans for a £30 million pound 'gas to grid' site, in Hindlip. The site would convert food waste into biomethane gas to power thousands of homes, Worcestershire Royal, and even Worcester Bosch's HQ.
More than 400 people have signed a petition against the plant, with a crucial decision now just weeks away.
Tom Edwards reports.
Stenergy, the company behind the plans, said in a statement there are already 100 similar food waste plants around the UK, and that it would be a "significant step forward for Worcestershire", which currently has no such site.
They added that the plant would be "state of the art, designed to operate cleanly and without odour emissions".
Worcestershire County Council's Planning Committee is set to make a decision in March.
