Vicky Pattison: ‘We had to make a lot of noise and be really deliberate about our action’

TV personality Vicky Pattison explains her decision to make a deepfake pornography video of herself.

She created the video as part of a documentary exploring the issue, and what needs to be done to stop it.

In recent months there's been an explosion in deepfake pornography. That's where an image is taken - perhaps from a Facebook profile picture or an image shared with friends, on WhatsApp, or text messages. It's then manipulated, using artificial intelligence, to create a new, pornographic image or video.

The UK Government recently announced plans to make creating deepfakes illegal if the person in the image didn't consent. But right now, it's not illegal to produce or solicit these images, though it is illegal to share them.
