Coventry City Council's consultation into proposed budget cuts to litter measures have now closed.

Nearly 拢7m goes towards cleaning up the city's streets, but the move would save 拢700,000 of that.

More than 200 people have signed a petition to stop these cuts, including Frank Beechey from Wyken.

Frank is part of a voluntary clear up group, who removed 60kg of rubbish in Coventry, only for the same amount to return in the same spot, the next day.

Frank has been talking to 大象传媒 CWR's Phil Upton.

A Council spokesperson said: 鈥淭he Council has just finished a thorough consultation process on our budget proposals for 2025/26. We are now reviewing all the feedback we have received, and this will help us set a balanced budget, which we need to do by law.

鈥淐ouncillors will be voting on the proposals at the Cabinet meeting on the 25 February. Until then, no decisions will be taken.

鈥淭ackling fly-tipping remains a key priority for the Council and our officers continue to work hard on this issue. In 2024 we increased the fine to 拢1000, installed cameras in hotspots, and have been working with residents to better educate them on the issue.
