Martin Lewis is urging customers to shop around for the best car insurance deals, even if their renewal quote is lower than last year.

Speaking to 5 Live's Adrian Chiles, Martin said: "If you price is the same, then you are still paying too much because the market has dropped by 16%".

Because the market has dropped 16%, so should the price you renew your car insurance at, he argues.鈥�

He says you should make sure any discount on your renewal is in line with market rates.

Martin also advised consumers to renew their insurance three to four weeks before your renewal date 鈥� because people who renew earlier are seen as a lower risk by insurers.
