5 Live listeners share their experiences with Nicky Campbell.
The coroner at the inquest into the death of a 19 year-old soldier has found it was partly caused by the way the British Army handled a complaint she made about being sexually assaulted. Royal Artillery Gunner Jaysley Beck was found dead in her barracks at Larkhill Camp in Wiltshire in 2021 after a Christmas party. The coroner concluded she died by suicide. Following Jaysley's death, 1,000 women have shared their stories of sexual harassment and abuse in the military. The head of the army, General Sir Roly Walker, has written to senior officers condemning what he called the 鈥渁ppalling and shameful behaviour鈥 in the service. 5 Live listeners told Nicky Campbell their experiences of sexual abuse in the military.
