'This should have been settled years ago'

The father of Beth Shipsey says he is relieved that her death, after taking pills containing the toxic substance DNP, was not in an attempt to take her own life.

Beth, from Worcester, died in February 2017 after taking the tablets that were sold as diet pills.

At an inquest in 2018 a coroner returned a narrative conclusion, but said the 21-year-old had intended to take her own life.

Doug Shipsey, and Beth's family, have been fighting to have that inquest's ruling of suicide overturned.

He tells Andrew Easton how what has happened in the years after Beth's death will now set a legal precedent, and that they are closer towards a resolution.
