The surgeon, patient duo who made it to Munich on two wheels

Ethan Walker was a promising teenage footballer from Aberdeenshire who, just months into a football scholarship at a USA University, suffered life-threatening injuries in a road traffic accident.

Pioneering orthopaedic surgeon, Professor Gordon Mackay, who just so happened to have played for Glasgow Rangers, was instrumental in helping Ethan recover from the significant injuries he suffered.

In 2024, the pair cycled from Hampden Park, the home of Scottish football, to Munich for Scotland’s opening match against Germany in Euro 2024 - just nine months after his accident.

They've been telling Sportshour's Shabnam Younus-Jewell why they decided to take on the challenge and their pride at seeing their challenge turned into a documentary.
