Dame Laura Kenny on the interview process for her new Commonwealth Games role.
Britain’s most successful Olympian Dame Laura Kenny has been named the President of Commonwealth Games England.
The 32 year-old is the youngest president in the history of the organisation.
She spoke to 5 Live’s Rachel Burden and Rick Edwards about the process of getting the job, and what she described as a ‘daunting’ interview process.
She said ‘at one point there was five of us going for it, at the time I was like ‘is that something I can even do?’ But the more I went through it and got talking to the guys at Team England, I thought you know what this actually is something for me’.
When asked what she wants to achieve within the role she said ‘I see myself as being a voice for the athletes’, making the athletes feel really special when they win medals.
