Lofty was the Vic's barman with a heart of gold. When a teenage Michelle Fowler got pregnant, Lofty asked her to marry him, but it didnt work out.

An ex-soldier, he was painfully thin and suffered from chronic asthma. Not exactly SAS material! Not only did he stick out like a sore thumb he was also permanently at the disposal of moany Michelle Fowler.聽Not to mention the fact that working behind the bar of the Queen Vic often stuck him in the middle of Den and Angie's heated exchanges... and occasionally on the receiving end of Angie's drunken attempts at seduction!
To put it plainly, Lofty was a mug although a lovable one. Unknowingly, he agreed to raise Den's baby as his own and to marry Michelle (despite her standing him up at the altar).
He finally left her after she aborted their baby against his will and said goodbye to Walford...
