David Jeffrey was born in Newtownards in 1962. A keen footballer from a young age, he showed talent on the field and participated on an apprenticeship with Manchester United FC for three years. He returned to Northern Ireland and played for several clubs between 1982-1996, including Linfield, Ards FC and Larne FC.

David has ability but could do much better and achieve more, if he applied himself and worked harder.
David Jeffrey's school report

In 1997 he became the manager of Linfield and remained there until the 2013-14 season. His time at the Linfield brought the club much success, winning six league and cup doubles in seven seasons. Under his leadership, the club went on to win the inaugural all-Ireland Sentanta Cup in 2005.

David now manages Ballymena United. He also works as a social worker, with a particular interest in community and youth work. In 2016, he was also awarded the Grand Master’s Award from the Orange Order. He has a fond interest in music and currently plays the flute in the Ballykeel Conservative Flute Band.
