Angela Hartnett

Angela is chef patron at Michelin-starred Murano in Mayfair.

During her childhood, Angela was influenced heavily by her Italian grandmother and mother who instilled in her the appreciation and love of good food. She completed a degree in Modern History at Cambridge Polytechnic and secured her first job at The Blue Boar in Cambridge. Her first serious food job was the Free Press Pub in Cambridge.

Angela鈥檚 first job in London was working with a young team at Aubergine under Gordon Ramsey, which gained a Michelin star soon after she started.

She later moved to L鈥橭ranger to work under Marcus Wareing, where she climbed the ranks to sous-chef before moving with Marcus to Petrus, not soon becoming head chef and helping to secure the restaurant a Michelin star.

In 2002, with Gordon Ramsay, she opened Menu Restaurant at the Connaught hotel; the first woman ever to run the kitchen there. Her efforts were formally recognized in 2004 with the award of her first Michelin Star.

In January 2007 Angela was awarded an MBE for her service to the hospitality industry.

After five successful years at the Connaught and with the hotel undergoing a massive refurbishment, Angela and Gordon Ramsay opened Murano in Mayfair in August 2008. Not long after opening, the restaurant was awarded its first Michelin star in Jan 2009

Angela now runs Murano, having bought Gordon Ramsay Holdings out in October 2011

She also oversees Whitechapel Gallery and Hartnett and Holder at Lime Wood Hotel.
