Mobeen Azhar is journalist and film-maker.

I watched my mum and dad talk to people and get the best from them, even when they were barely speaking the same language! First and foremost, I'm interested in people, their lives and their stories.

He grew up in Huddersfield and has been a Londoner for the last decade. Mobeen is a second generation British Asian. He's the son of a bus driver and a shop keeper so he prides himself on being able to talk to anyone and everyone. "I watched my mum and dad talk to people and get the best from them, even when they were barely speaking the same language! First and foremost, I'm interested in people, their lives and their stories."

Mobeen has produced and presented content across 大象传媒 Television, Radio and Online for almost 15 years. "I love crafting programmes over months and sometimes years and that is one of the reasons I'm so excited about joining the Asian Network. I'm going to be flexing a different muscle. There’s an energy and a buzz about live radio that is special. I'm looking forward to creating a new space for listeners. A place where we can really share experiences and talk about things that excite, inspire and even scare us.”

His specialist areas include religion, addiction, sex work, Prince and Pakistan. His accolades include a BAFTA, a Grierson Award and a Royal Television Society Award.
