Chuan Wang
Tenor from China - 32 years old
I was born in Luoyang, China, and started singing studies at 17. I am a graduate of Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Milan Verdi Conservatory, and La Scala Accademia, Milan. I won the First Prize in the 7th Salvatore Licitra International Lyric Opera Competition and the Second Prize in the 5th Portofino International Lyric Opera Competition; 5th prize and the special Placido Domingo prize in the 58th Tenor Vinas International Lyric Opera competition.
From 2017 to 2020, I had the opportunity to play many roles at La Scala, Milan, including Almaviva from the children’s version of Rossini’s Il barbiere di Siviglia; Nemorino from the children’s version of L’elisir d’amore; Ramiro from the children’s version of La Cenerentola; Calaf from Cherubini’s Alì Babà conducted by Paolo Carignani with stage direction by Liliana Cavani; Rinuccio from Gianni Schicchi directed by Woody Allen and conducted by Ádám Fischer. I also sang the role of the Duke (Rigoletto) directed by Gilbert Deflo and conducted by Daniel Oren. In 2021, I will sing Conte di Libenskof (Il viaggio a Reims) in Rossini Opera Festival and Gernando and Ubaldo (Armida) with Marseille Opera.
I am a very cheerful and lively person and I like to make friends. When I’m not singing, my favourite pastime is to try all kinds of food.
