Loudmouth Lynne Slater was the eldest of the Slater sisters, permanently disappointed with what life threw at her and a fierce judge of right and wrong鈥� although she wasn鈥檛 always able to practice what she preached.

Her turbulent relationship with commitment-phobic mechanic Garry Hobbs聽tested her, but despite her complaints, it was Lynne鈥檚 adultery with Beppe on the eve of their wedding which rocked their relationship. After tying the knot with Garry, Lynne embarked upon a second affair, while Garry slept with Laura Beale and Lynne鈥檚 sister Belinda.
After many furtive fumbles in the back of parked cars, Lynne and Garry decided that they really loved each other and gave it another go. She fell pregnant; however her happiness was short-lived. Disaster struck when a fairground ride collapsed in the Square and Lynne was buried under the debris. She lost the baby and Lynne discovered that she would be unable to have any more children.
Lynne鈥檚 heart was further broken when she discovered that Garry was the father of Laura Beale's son although it turned out to be untrue. When she looked around for someone to blame, it was trusty Garry who was standing before her. She ended the marriage and left Walford.
