Green IT exhibition in London & Undertone's singer Feargal Sharkey talks about online music piracy

CAN COMPUTERS GO GREEN?

The IT industry is responsible for 2% of the world鈥檚 carbon emissions, comparable to the airline industry.

This week Gareth and Bill visit the Green IT Expo in London to find out how big businesses are planning to reverse their poor environmental record. With the number of PCs in the world set to double to more than 2.5 bill by the end of 2010 is it too little too late?

FEARGAL SHARKEY ON MUSIC PIRACY

How should the music industry punish illegal file sharers? Opinions differ between governments and music lovers internationally.

In New Zealand new laws will mean that internet service providers are responsible to monitoring people's online activities and cutting them off if there are allegations of illegal file-sharing.

Earlier this month in France, the government voted overwhelmingly in favour of a 'three strikes and you're out' policy. Suspected file-sharers would get two written warnings before their internet service is suspended.

Ex-Undertones singer Feargal Sharkey is the new head of UKMusic, the first organization to bring all parts of the music industry together to discuss policy issues. Feargal chats to Gareth about how to tackle illegal file sharing. Can the music industry create new business models to make money out of the internet?
