Venezuela's long-running crisis seems to be moving into an even more critical phase. The government of President Nicolas Maduro has just banned from public office Juan Guaido, the opposition leader who has declared himself president. They say the ban is because of financial and legal irregularities. Mr Guaido said it was an attempt by the government to confuse public opinion. Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has a tough job with local elections on Sunday, with the Turkish lira suffering fresh falls in value today. As we hear from our Turkey correspondent, Mark Lowen. The US government is concerned that the personal data collected by the Chinese-owned Grindr dating app could be exploited by Beijing to blackmail individuals with security clearances. Officials have now forced Grindr to be put up for sale. The Wall Street Journal's Georgia Wells, who broke the story, explains.
