World Bank Report Predicts a Rise of the Global Economy

The latest report forecasts a 3.1 per cent rise of the global economy this year

The latest Global Economic Prospects report from the World Bank predicts a 3.1 percent expansion of the global economy in 2018. We hear from the lead author Franziska Ohnsorge. The United Nations says less than ten per cent of plastic waste is recycled. Erin Simon of World Wildlife Fund US explains why firms are often reluctant to reduce the use of plastic. Also in the programme, roaming wild boar are posing a health risk to the pork industry in Denmark. Christian Fink Hansen of the Danish Agriculture and Food Council tells us why his organisation backs a new 68km fence on the border with Germany to try and tackle the problem. Sports betting will begin in the US state of Delaware. Casey Clarke of the American Gaming Association welcomes the move, whilst Keith Whyte of the National Council on Problem Gambling sounds a note of caution. Plus we have a report looking at whether pay transparency could help narrow the gender pay gap.
