Turkey's president accepts large losses in local elections

The main opposition candidate is claiming victory in the country's biggest city Istanbul.

The Turkish president, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, has said that he accepts the verdict of the voters, after his AK party suffered major defeats in cities in Sunday's local elections.

Votes are being counted in the presidential election in Ukraine, where a comedian who plays a fictional president on television is on course to win the first round.
