Thousands of activists and police in Hong Kong are in a standoff

Anger remains over a controversial bill which would allow extradition to mainland China

Thousands of protesters - mostly young people and students - have taken to the streets and effectively blocked access to government buildings ahead of the scheduled debate of the bill.

In the UK the Charity Commission has given an official warning to the aid organisation Oxfam. The rebuke follows its investigation into the sexual misconduct of Oxfam staff in Haiti in the aftermath of the 2010 earthquake.
