Sudan forms army-civilian council to lead country

Generals and protest leaders agreed on its final composition late on Tuesday.

Sudan's military leaders and opposition alliance have formed a sovereign council to lead the country during its three-year transition to civilian rule; Cardinal George Pell, the most senior Catholic cleric to be convicted of sexual abuse, has failed in a legal bid to quash his convictions in Australia; and the leader of Cameroon's anglophone separatist movement has been sentenced to life in jail by a military court.
