As world leaders gather in New York for a UN climate summit, leading scientists have warned that the causes and impacts of global warming are accelerating. A World Meteorological Organisation report says the last five years are set to be the hottest on record.

Thomas Cook has collapsed after last-minute negotiations aimed at saving the 178-year-old holiday firm failed. It has also triggered the biggest ever peacetime repatriation, aimed at bringing more than 150,000 British holidaymakers home.
