Clashes in Sudan between army and mutineers

Sudan's army has overrun the HQ of mutinous forces from an intelligence agency once loyal to ex-leader Omar al-Bashir, reports say.

Reports from the Sudanese capital, Khartoum, say that government forces have taken control of the intelligence headquarters where security personnel loyal to former president Omar al Bashir were staging a revolt.

Taiwan's newly re-elected leader has said the island is already independent and there's no need to declare it formally, in comments likely to anger Beijing.

More than twenty people - mostly children - have been injured when an airliner dumped fuel on their playground in Los Angeles.
