Democrats approve $4.5bn aid for border migrants

The US House of Representatives has approved four and a half billion dollars in aid to address the migrant crisis at the Mexican border.

The funds are to be directed towards overcrowded and dirty detention centres that have provoked an outcry. But the bill could be vetoed.
