President Biden has criticised the governor of Texas and others who have relaxed Covid-19 restrictions, saying that it was a big mistake to allow citizens to stop wearing masks. As a range of spending measures were revealed in the latest UK budget, Roger Bootle, chairman of Capital Economics looks at the UK's finance picture from a global perspective.
