Lockdowns and the shortfall in foreign remittances

Almost 20% of the money migrants normally send home will be missing due to the measures in place to tackle the pandemic.

The World Bank has said that because of the coronavirus pandemic there is set to be a drop of almost 20% in money migrant workers send home in 2020, affecting millions of hard-pressed households in poorer countries.

We report from the Philippines where there are fears that President Duterte could bring back martial law, last seen during the rule of the late President Ferdinand Marcos.
