China Communist Party plenum begins in Beijing
The four day event will see China roll out its five-year economic and development plan
The elite Central Committee of China鈥檚 ruling Communist Party is meeting behind closed doors over four days to create the economic blueprint for world's second biggest economy. Andy Xie, an independent economist based in Shanghai, tell us what he expects to emerge from the meeting. Also in the programme, the cinema business is in trouble. Movie theatres are closed or limiting numbers because of the pandemic and the supply of new releases has dried up. Ed Butler has been talking to industry insiders about the struggle for survival. And, while many businesses have suffered because of covid-19, some have thrived, including book publishing. Bloomsbury Publishing has had its best six months since 2008, as we hear from CEO Nigel Newton.
