Covid cases soar in the US

Scientists are warning the United States could be entering a fifth wave of infection

Data suggests many more Americans have been travelling over the past few days than did this time last year, but there's been a sharp rise in Covid-19 cases in recent weeks. Scientists are warning the United States could be entering a fifth wave of infections and as hospitals are getting busier, we hear from Eric Topol, a physician scientist at Scripps Research in California. We discuss Apple's decision to alert some journalists and campaigners that their smartphones may have been hacked by a state - John Scott-Railton from Citizen Lab gives us the details. And Starbucks workers in Buffalo, New York, are holding a ballot this month to decide whether to join a trade union. It's part of a trend in union activism across America - we have a report from the 大象传媒's Ed Butler. Plus, Sir John Tusa tells us where power lies at top of a firm; is it with the executive team that runs the business day in, day out, or is it the board at the very top? Plus, on Thanksgiving, we hear about the supply chain challenges faced by a retailer in London that caters to US expats in the city, when it comes to providing the traditional turkey feast. Plus, we're joined throughout the programme by Stephanie Hare, a technology writer in Chicago and Patrick Barta, the Asia News Editor for the Wall Street Journal newspaper; he's in Bangkok in Thailand.
