Weather-related disasters more frequent and costlier than 50 years ago
World Meteorological Organization says early warning systems are now saving more lives
Scientists at the UN's World Meteorological Organization say the number of weather-related disasters around the globe has increased five-fold over the past 50 years. We hear from the WMO's secretary-general, Professor Petteri Taalas. The newly elected president of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema, says that he will prioritise fixing the country's defaulted debt with the IMF as part of his government plan.
