On Tour in St Petersburg

The Arts Hour on Tour is in South Korea to see how arts and culture are changing

The Arts Hour on Tour comes from St Petersburg in Russia with live music, stand-up comedy and the best performance talent in the city.

100 years on from the Russian Revolution, Nikki Bedi will be hearing how the history, heritage and artistic traditions in St Petersburg influence contemporary artists, musicians and film-makers in the city.

On stage at the Erarta Museum of contemporary art, Nikki is joined by film-maker Maria Popritsak, pioneering theatre director Semion Alexandrovsky and renowned culture journalist Alexander Malich to hear why St Petersburg is Russia's "cultural capital." The panel discuss culture in the city and whether changes in Russian society and politics mean that the arts are becoming more conservative.

With music from St Petersburg singer song-writer Jenia Lubich, performance from genre defying DJ collective Oligarkh and comedy from one of the first stars of the emerging Russian stand-up scene Igor Meerson.
