The Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra makes its Proms debut with Music Director Louis Langr茅e, bringing works by two celebrated American composers. Bernstein鈥檚 symphonic suite drawn from his soundtrack to On the Waterfront is a cinematic journey through the docks of post-war New Jersey, telling the story of one man鈥檚 heroic fight against corruption and intimidation.
Commissioned by the Cincinnati Orchestra during the Second World War, Copland鈥檚 Lincoln Portrait sets some of greatest speeches by the 16th American President against a stirring orchestral tone-poem. 大象传媒 Radio 3's Andrew McGregor and Mark Lowther introduce the concert.
