The Arts Hour on Tour is in Amsterdam to find out how artists, writers and film-makers are reflecting life in the fast growing and increasingly multicultural European city.
Nikki is joined on stage by writer Herman Koch, author of the international hit The Dinner, film director Martin Koolhoven, whose first English language film Brimstone captivated audiences, and architect Ellen van Loon, whose ground-breaking buildings have exported the Dutch aesthetic to the rest of the world.
Nikki hears about how Amsterdam, which is expected to welcome 18 million visitors this year, has been changed by the influx of tourists and visitors. She also explores whether Amsterdam鈥檚 reputation as a liberal city is being affected by the rise of the political right in The Netherlands.
With comedy from star of the Dutch stand-up circuit Said el Hassnaoui, and live music from popular Amsterdam band MY BABY and singer songwriter Shishani who draws on her Dutch, Belgian and Namibian roots to create her unique sound.
