How Honey Thaljieh started a soccer team for women in the occupied West Bank in the early 2000s
To mark International Women鈥檚 Day, Sporting Witness has the story of the founding of the Palestinian women鈥檚 football team, who played their first international match in 2005. Many of the players had to overcome hostility from male relatives, as well as the difficulties of day-to-day survival in the occupied West Bank. The Palestinian captain, Honey Thaljieh, talks to Charlotte North about how she found a sense of liberation through sport.
