The Covid Generation

The effect of coronavirus on the employment prospects and lives of the class of 2020.

We meet the class of 2020 - school leavers and graduates from around the world - who would be, in normal circumstances, entering the labour market now. Ruth Alexander talks to a group of members of this unique generation to see how the coronavirus pandemic affects their lives and employment prospects. Are they optimistic? Do they see their careers being put on hold? Will they be forced into entrepreneurship and a new version of the gig economy? Or will they try to gain even more qualifications to raise their chances of finding a job? What will be the long-term effects for intergenerational tension? And do they anticipate the lifetime "scarring" that can result from long periods of unemployment?
