In 2011, thousands of protestors occupied Pearl Roundabout near the centre of Bahrain鈥檚 capital, Manama. Witness History speaks to one of them.
In 2011, thousands of protestors occupied Pearl Roundabout near the centre of Bahrain鈥檚 capital, Manama. Many of them were from the country's Shia religious majority. They were demanding political freedoms and calling for an end to what they said was years of discrimination by the Sunni monarchy that rules the country. Rob Walker spoke to Asma Darwish, a 20 year old student who joined the protests.
